We’ve been noticing a chill in the air lately (yes, even in L.A.!) which means sweater season is quickly approaching. Here are some sweater-wearing rules to keep in mind:
1. Just say “NO” to bulk – nothing is less flattering (or adds more lbs) than a big, bulky sweater. Keep them slim and fitted.
2. No Santa sweaters need apply – unless you’re 95 years old maybe, and even then, these sweaters might just land you on the Naughty list. We know it’s fun to get into the holiday spirit, but stay clear of sweaters decorated with Christmas trees or Thanksgiving turkeys. If you feel so inspired, trade in that themed nightmare for a gorgeous red cashmere sweater – which will help keep you on Santa’s Good list.
3. Wrap it up – we LOVE wrap sweaters. Enough said. 4. It’s in the details – embrace the trendy, of-the-moment looks that add some modern elements. Think oversized buttons, lace embellishments or empire waists.
** For the Fashionistas: We’re in love with the grandpa-inspired cardigans for fall. Menswear is a big trend this season, so throw one on with a wide-leg pair of jeans, but be sure to add some feminine accessories to keep it girly – floral embellishments will be big for spring, so indulge in this trend early and pin on a floral broach or rock an oversized floral ring, (such as this gorgeous bloom from Kenneth Jay Lane)

i can't wait for sweater season! thanks for the good ideas...
The Fashion Source is your go-to, one-stop-shop (no pun intended), for all things fashion. Our mission is to define the true meaning of life, how to achieve world peace, and what shoes to wear with that new pencil skirt...ok, maybe we're reaching a bit too high...we're overachievers - it can't be helped. But we can definitely figure out that shoe thing.
I started wearing my mom’s pearls and rocking hot pink painted nails by age 3. I guess that should’ve been a sign. Ever since I’ve been obsessed with all things fashion – and I’m not about to start apologizing for it. Besides spending my days and nights shopping, or at the very least, thinking about shopping, I‘m almost equally obsessed with cooking great food and baking red velvet cupcakes.
Even though I was born and raised in the ever-sunny climate of L.A., deep down I’m a New York girl at heart. I live for salsa dancing till my feet hurt and am on a never-ending quest for the best burrito and/ or crème bruele (not to be eaten together mind you) and am currently working on expanding my collection of shoes and purses.
Afraid to wear white after Labor Day? Perplexed by which face cream works best for your skin type? Need to know what accessories to wear with your new wrap dress?
It can be overwhelming, we know. So let me figure it out for you!
I'll get back to you personally and may even post your question and my answer on the blog (anonymously of course!)
Stay stylish.
