Trend Predictions - Spring/ Summer '08

L.A. Fashion Week has come and gone, but not without our noticing some upcoming trends for Spring/Summer ’08…(I know, I know, we’re barely in to fall, but at least you’ll be way ahead of the game if you start shopping now!)

What to look for

1. Spring/Summer colors: anything bold, bright and fun – think violet, geranium pink, yellow, lime green, crimson, orange and citrus hues.

2. Soft, “brushed” metallics – stay away from super shiny metallics that leave you looking like a disco ball. Instead opt for muted tones in silver and bronze.

3. Dress up – dresses rule for the Spring, especially in prints like plaids, florals, bold patterns and checks. Keep in ultra-feminie with short garden dresses, embellishments and tuelle.

4. Details are big for spring, so look for clothing with special elements like buttons, stitching, ruffles, lace and mesh.

5. Keep it simple – don’t overdo it with all the bells and whistles. Keep lines clean and simple. You’ll see a more structured, tailored look for spring, with form-fitting shapes stepping in for the bubble looks.

What to retire (for now…)

1. Skinny jeans (if you ever dared to own a pair)

2. Empire waist dresses

3. Distressed denim

4. Clothing with heavy embellishments

Happy shopping!
